2. Discuss how you would change the behaviors that interfered with learning into behaviors that facilitate learning. In other words, how would you have handled the situation to achieve a better outcome?

As a medical professor, it is important to design assignments that not only test the knowledge of the students but also help them to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In this exercise, we will apply formative evaluation to the nurse/client interaction to help the students better understand how to handle situations that may arise during their nursing practice.

1. Share a personal experience about learning a new information or a skill. Then identify teacher behaviors during the experience that facilitated learning and teacher behaviors that interfered with learning.

One personal experience I had with learning a new skill was when I took a cooking class. The teacher who facilitated the class was very organized and provided a clear outline of what the class entailed. She made sure that we were all engaged by asking questions and allowing us to practice the skills we learned. Additionally, she provided constructive feedback that helped us to improve on our techniques. Overall, her teaching behavior facilitated learning.

On the other hand, some teachers may use ineffective teaching methods that hinder learning. Such behaviors include an inability to communicate clearly, a lack of enthusiasm, a disorganized approach to teaching, or a lack of engagement with the students. These behaviors create a negative learning environment and leave students feeling discouraged.

2. Discuss how you would change the behaviors that interfered with learning into behaviors that facilitate learning. In other words, how would you have handled the situation to achieve a better outcome?

To facilitate learning, I would use a more engaging teaching style by collaborating with the students and encouraging them to participate in the lesson. By creating a positive learning environment, learners feel more comfortable to ask questions or offer new ideas that can help to enhance learning. I would also work on improving communication skills by speaking clearly, concise and using effective teaching techniques.

Finally, I would consider using different techniques to reach learners, such as visual aids, hands-on practices or demonstrations. By adjusting my teaching style to accommodate different learning styles, I can facilitate learning and improve the overall student experience.
