Transactional leadership, on the other hand, is effective in situations where clear rules and procedures are necessary. The strength of this approach is that it provides structure, stability, and control. The weakness is that it may lead to lack of innovation and creativity. 
In nursing practice, a combination of both transformational and transactional leadership styles can be used to create a supportive work environment that encourages innovation and creativity while following the necessary guidelines for patient care.
