This project will be completed in two parts:
Part 1: Expanded Bibliography: Write an expanded bibliography for your 3 main paper references. These references must be about the human nutrition topic that will be the focus of your research paper. Your 3 main references must be from 2012 or later, and they must be from professional peer-reviewed journals in nutrition, nursing, allied health, kinesiology, medicine, or science (biology, chemistry, physiology, etc-). The expanded bibliography will list your reference citations in MLA or APA format; each citation will be followed by a brief explanation of what your article is about and why it is a good reference for your paper.
Part II: Short Research Paper: Write a short paper (3+ pages of writing) about your three references. Your paper should explain & discuss the major points of each reference. For research articles, discuss the research design, major findings, and major conclusions. Include your own evaluation of the information in these articles: What, in your opinion, is the significance of the information or findings in your 3 articles?

Introduction:
As a medical professor, it is crucial to provide students with assignments that enhance their research skills and foster critical thinking. This project involves two parts, an expanded bibliography and a short research paper, focused on human nutrition. The purpose of this project is to help students inculcate research skills, particularly the ability to evaluate and analyze research articles critically.
Question: What is the aim of the expanded bibliography part of this project, and what is its significance for the research paper?
Answer:
The expanded bibliography elaborates on the references used in the short research paper. Its primary goal is to provide a concise summary of the articles, emphasize their relevance to the research topic, and why those articles are essential for the research paper. It also helps to establish the credibility of the references used since the articles must be peer-reviewed, recent, and relevant to the research topic. Through the expanded bibliography, students can refine their research skills, ensure they use credible sources, and create a foundation for the research paper.
Question: What should be included in the short research paper, and why is it an essential aspect of this project?
Answer:
The short research paper should discuss the critical points and major findings of the three references used in the expanded bibliography. It should also evaluate the importance and significance of the research, and provide a personal evaluation of the information in the selected references. The research paper allows students to analyze and interpret the information they gathered, develop their writing abilities, and present their arguments coherently. Additionally, the research paper is essential in helping students develop an understanding of the research process, which is vital in clinical settings, where evidence-based practice is emphasized.
