One successful leader that comes to mind is Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. One of the reasons for considering Florence Nightingale a successful leader is her ability to inspire and influence her team towards a common goal. Florence Nightingale believed that the environment played a significant role in how patients recover from illness, and she introduced cleanliness, improved sanitation, and hygiene into hospitals.

Nightingale used the transformational leadership theory, which involves inspiring and motivating followers to exceed their goals. Transformational leaders provide a sense of direction and purpose to their followers, which leads to better outcomes. Florence Nightingale also used the contingency theory, where the leader adjusts their leadership style according to the situation at hand.
