Introduction: In this assignment, we will address three questions related to health vulnerability, behavioral change, and health campaigns.

1) The single mom of three living in an urban area in south Los Angeles, who works as a fast-food restaurant cook, faces various health vulnerabilities due to her living and working conditions. Firstly, lack of sidewalks and nearby parks can limit her ability to exercise, which can lead to several health issues such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Secondly, living in an unsafe environment can cause stress, anxiety, and mental health problems. Thirdly, exposure to fast-food diet, high in fat, sugar, and calories, can lead to various health issues, including obesity, heart disease, and high blood pressure, for both herself and her children. To improve the environmental exposure of these vulnerabilities, sidewalks and parks can be built to encourage physical activity. The government can also increase the safety of the area by providing more police surveillance. The single mom can also opt for healthier meal options, including those with more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

2) A high-priority behavioral change topic is smoking cessation. Predisposing factors are individual attitudes, beliefs, knowledge, and values toward quitting smoking. Enabling factors are resources, tools, and social support to quit smoking, such as nicotine patches, counseling services, and family support. Reinforcing factors are incentives to maintain smoking cessation, such as positive feedback from those closest to the smoker, financial rewards, and feeling better physically and emotionally.

3) Two health campaigns that have made significant impacts are The Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), which aims to eradicate polio worldwide, and The American Heart Association (AHA), which aims to reduce cardiovascular disease risk factors. The GPEI campaign has targeted the most vulnerable countries and provided free, public vaccinations, which have led to a significant reduction in polio cases worldwide. The AHA campaign has raised awareness of cardiovascular disease risk factors and provided education on healthy lifestyle choices, leading to a reduction in smoking, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol levels. These campaigns have had a significant effect on reducing the spread of polio and reducing cardiovascular disease risk factors, providing a crucial foundation for future health campaigns.
